Slovakia 2022

Fire salamander

(Salamandra salamandra) (Linnaeus, 1758)

Slovakia has some of the best preserved deciduous and conifer forests in all of Europe. Not surprisingly, fire salamanders are therefore abundant throughout the country.

I had a prolonged stay in Slovakia for the months of March, half of April and then the whole of June. This allowed for more observations of wildlife compared to my usual mid summer visits.
