Just a quick word to share a new publication by myself and Ilias Strachinis. A very short paper on our first observations of the European worm snake (Typhlops vermicularis) on Symi island, Greece in 2012. Strachinis & Wilson (2014), New record of Typhlops vermicularis Merrem, 1820 from Symi island, Greece pp. 9-10. You can view the paper by clicking here or on the photograph below.
Plans are shaping up nicely for this year with an exciting Cyclades voyage in June with Carl Corbidge, Liam Russell, Stephen Roussos and hopefully Borja de las Heras. Looking forward to being back on Milos and seeing its endemic fauna once again, but other far less surveyed islands will also gain our attention. With neighbouring islands having dense populations of dwarf-sized Nose-horned vipers (Vipera ammodytes) the trip looks set to be full of vipers!
I’m also hoping for a second trip either in May or July, northern Spain or yet another Greek trip would do nicely.
