Gerald Durrell’s Corfu 2012

I’ve just got back from a fantastic week in Corfu with the Durrell School of Corfu for the Gerald Durrell’s Corfu week and I would like to say a big thank you to my colleagues and the amazing participants who made the week truly unforgettable.  Even the severe fire damage from August 2011 that destroyed some of my favourite areas couldn’t dampen our spirits. As always I found almost all the native species of amphibian and reptile, although some of these I found by wandering around by myself in the cooler evenings rather than on the walks themselves. Far too many memorable moments to list for now so I will add a photo album and perhaps a small field report soon, but for now here’s a photo of one of the beauties from the trip:
